There is a very specific happiness to this job that nobody puts in the job listing. The first coffee before the first commit. The cat who insists the keyboard is a bed — usually right when a deploy goes out.

And then, the line of code. You know the one. The whole problem looked enormous at 11 a.m., and then it turned out to be one missing return, one renamed file. Six hours collapses into one line. You laugh out loud, alone, at a screen.

I used to think great days in this career were the productive ones. Turns out they’re the ones with good coffee, a cat in the way, and one line that fixes itself in your head like a puzzle piece snapping home.

Here’s to more of those. Keep the mug warm.
