No client. No deadline. No reason at all. I just rebuilt Frogger, one of my childhood favorites, and it turned out to be the most fun I’ve had with code in weeks.

Something wonderful happens when nothing is on the line. I added car sounds that are slightly too cheerful, fireworks when your frog makes it home, and splats that fade away like the whole thing never happened. Nobody asked for any of it — that’s the point.

Side projects like this are where the joy lives. They remind me why I started writing code in the first place: because making a little world that responds to your hands is just delightful.

It’s live on this site under Projects. Give it a play, and go build something silly this week. No reason required.
